Notes from Clif

May 21st, 2008 | 1 Comment

Love, prayers, blessings and thoughts to John and Maggy Dobbs. You’ve impacted my life and the lives of my very best friends more than you will ever know. My heart aches for you.

I apologize to all the recent commenters for not replying more promptly. I’ve been consumed with PIDT Conference responsibilities. I know many of you are participating in the 31-Day Comment Challenge and I apologize for negatively impacting your experience.

The PIDT Conference was excellent. We enjoyed a beautiful setting, great weather, delicious food, and fantastic presentations and discussions. I also made several new friends.

Happy birthday, Mr. T.

I was reminded this weekend just how much I love eating at Rendezvous. It’s a must for everyone visiting Memphis.

My picks: Celtics and Spurs

I really like Will Smith because he seems to have his head on straight. The commercials for Hancock…well, they just look lame. Is the CGI supposed to look that fake?

The following message is a repost of PIDT 2008 Coordinator Michael Grant’s message on the PIDT Blog. You are encouraged to actively engage in this event.

Dear worldwide PIDTers,

I know that many of you are tied up with graduations and other commitments this weekend that prevent you from attending the PIDT meeting. In any case, we would like to encourage you to participate in real time or asynchronously. We’ve set up a variety of tools to help us network with one another, capture knowledge and share resources this weekend and afterward. I encourage you to find a meaningful way to participate:

This is going to be a highly interactive event, both online and offline/face to face. We hope you can engage in one way or another.

We look forward to connecting with you online or face to face,
~Michael

PIDT Conference

May 14th, 2008 | No Comments

The Professors of Instructional Design and Technology (PIDT) Conference is an annual retreat where professors, selected doctoral students, and other individuals interested in instructional design/instructional PIDT 2008 - Memphis, TNtechnology gather from around the nation. By design PIDT is a small conference with typically 60 - 100 attendees and is held alternatively in the mountains of Virginia and Colorado and among the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Memphis, TN. It is a great opportunity for participants to visit, brainstorm, collaborate, and share with others with strong interests in instructional design. The structure of the program, interests and abilities of those in attendance and the conference’s physical setting combine to make it a uniquely focused event.

This year’s retreat will be May 16 -19, 2008, at FTK Camp in Memphis, TN. Those in attendance will enjoy high quality presentations, discussions, speed demos, and activities. We’ll also enjoy an evening on Memphis’ Beale Street during the world famous Memphis in May Music Fest and World Championship Barbecue Contest.

This section will forever be a work in progress, so feel free to suggest guest bloggers and topics anytime. You can easily access this section by clicking on the 1 Thing link in the main menu.

PIDT Conference

May 15th, 2007 | No Comments

I recently returned from the Professors of Instructional Design and Technology (PIDT) Conference.  An archive of some of the presentations and discussions from this year’s conference is emerging.  Documents, presentations, podcasts, images and more are available in the archive.

Elizabeth Boling led a discussion about Moving the Field Forward.  She used an engaging instructional strategy to focus participants on three points: What are our fears?
