Picture It! – Photo Scavenger Hunts in the Classroom

I’ll be facilitating one of the opening workshops today at the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media Conference. I’m excited to be back in Arkansas as I went to college and spent my first two years teaching in this state. The AAIM Conference is in Hot Springs which is one of my favorite Arkansan (Pronounced like “Are Kansan”) towns. I’ll be speaking a couple of more times throughout the 3 day conference. Here are the resources from today’s workshop.

Workshop Description
Photo scavenger hunts get students moving while engaging them with course content. Well-designed photo scavenger hunts integrate 21st century skills and promote higher-order thinking.

Wrap-Up: Apple Education Workshops – @umidt

(Cross-posted from IDT News)

Apple Education Workshops hosted by the Instructional Design and Technology program at the University of Memphis was a series of ten events over three days. The more than 240 workshop participants had an opportunity to learn about and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing educators in 2011. Attendees came from public and private schools, universities, corporations, and health care providers throughout the Midsouth.

Presenters Tim Matheny, Apple Senior Systems Engineer and Dr. Barry Adams, Education Technology Consultant with Apple spoke with K-12 educators of the Mid-South as well as University of Memphis students, faculty, and administrators on various topics such as the five issues facing higher education, educational theories and practices, and future implications.

Participants had an opportunity to hear and experience with hands-on activities how Apple has responded to these current trends and issues in education and what they as individual educators could do in their own learning environments.

Bill Nye Headlines 2011 Martin Institute Summer Conference

The Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence is excited to announce that Bill Nye will be the keynote speaker for the 2011 Summer Conference.

About Bill Nye
Making science entertaining and accessible is something Bill has been doing most of his life. “My family is funny,” he says, “I mean funny in the sense that we make people laugh, not just funny looking.” Bill discovered that he had a talent for tutoring in high school, and while growing up in Washington, DC. He spent afternoons and summers de-mystifying math for his fellow students. When he wasn’t hitting the books, Bill was hitting the road on his bicycle. He spent hours taking it apart to “see how it worked.” <Read More>
